I just finished a multi-channel marketing campaign for my client where they were a platinum sponsor for the conference of 700 attendees. They had a traditional booth and table where they gave away (branded hand sanitizer), a product information handout we designed, a banner that was displayed in the conference room as well as an advertisement in the conference 3 ring binder. All this marketing collateral was aimed at strategic branding for face to face discussions which now seems like it will be a thing of the past at least in the near future.
Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus pandemic, face to face business conferences and marketing conferences for 2020 will most likely be postponed or cancelled.
Marketing conferences in particular were typically an excellent place for business owners and marketers to learn about new marketing strategies, tactics and trends.
Now with the coronavirus pandemic consumer and business buying behavior is changing. For example, consumers are practicing social distancing and therefore may stay at home and order more online than be visiting local store fronts. As for business to business companies they will reduce business travel and work remotely.
As business owners and marketers we will not be attending marketing conferences in the near term for marketing education but now more than ever we need to proactively market and operate our business to adapt to this new stay at home economy in order to survive and thrive. One alternative to a marketing conference is to look at the best companies that have been moving in this direction for years and apply their successful strategies and tactics to your business.
Think about advertising, marketing and operating your business to support more online interactions, delivery and remote work.
